Journal of Global Oncology: CALL FOR PAPERS

Apr 16, 2015

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and David Kerr, MD, DSc, founding Editor-in-Chief of the Society’s new Journal of Global Oncology (JGO), are pleased to announce that JGO is now accepting article submissions at: http://submitjgo.ascopubs.org/.

This new online-only, open access journal fulfills a growing need for high-quality literature on the array of challenges that health care professionals in resource-constrained settings face in caring for patients with cancer and in conducting research. First articles will publish in the third quarter of 2015. Learn more at GlobalOncologyJournal.org.

Journal of Global Oncology is funded through the Conquer Cancer Foundation of ASCO with the support of the Conquer Cancer Foundation Mission Endowment, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, and Novartis Oncology.

A voice for oncologists in the developing world

JGO is launching at an opportune time; according to the World Health Organization, more than 60% of the world’s total new annual cases of cancer occur in Africa, Asia and Central and South America.

“This journal will give a voice to oncologists in the developing world,” said Dr. Kerr, an expert in colorectal cancer who has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on the disease and has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Annals of Oncology. Dr. Kerr is currently a Professor of Cancer Medicine at the University of Oxford, an Honorary Consultant Medical Oncologist at Oxford University Hospitals Trust, and an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. He is a long-time advocate for addressing cancer in the developing world, the organizer of the first African Cancer Reform convention in London, and the co-founder of the Africa Oxford Cancer Foundation, or AfrOx.
