ASCO CMO Honored with Induction into 2018 Class of OncLive® Giants of Cancer Care®

May 11, 2018

ASCO’s Chief Medical Officer, Richard L. Schilsky, MD, FACP, FASCO, is among the 21 oncology professionals inducted into the 2018 class of OncLive® Giants of Cancer Care®. Dr. Schilsky’s recognition in the “Community Outreach/Education/Cancer Policy” category reflects his remarkable contributions to oncology research and clinical practice.

“The Giants of Cancer Care® program celebrates the achievements of leading physicians and researchers who have devoted their time, talent, and resources to improving care for patients affected by cancer,” said Patrick I. Borgen, MD, Chair of the Giants of Cancer Care®, Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Maimonides Hospital, and Director of the Brooklyn Breast Cancer Program, in an invitation to inductees. “Their contributions have propelled the field forward and established the building blocks for future advances.”

Candidates for the program are nominated by peers in the oncology community, and finalists are chosen by an advisory board of renowned oncologists. A selection board of more than 100 oncology professionals votes for the winners across 21 categories.

OncLive® will formally recognize this year’s inductees during the 6th annual reception at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago, Illinois, on May 31. Learn more about the OncLive® Giants of Cancer Care® recognition program.
