Put Your Knowledge to the Test With ASCO’s Newly Updated Self-Evaluation Program (ASCO-SEP)

Jun 07, 2022

Create customized self-assessments using more than 900 practice questions to reinforce learning and close educational gaps. Keep track of your learning with bookmarks and notes. Access valuable ASCO resources such as meeting presentations, abstracts, and guidelines, custom-curated for each chapter topic. These are some of the options you now have with the recently updated ASCO-SEP® Digital Subscription, which became available this month.

Available through a 12-month subscription, ASCO-SEP Digital includes 22 chapters of science and practice-based information written, edited, and peer-reviewed by experts across oncology specialties and disease sites. Now including the Question Bank, the self-assessment component, ASCO-SEP Digital Subscription encompasses nearly 1,000 chapter-based and additional practice. Updated yearly, the context-rich multiple-choice questions offer detailed rationales for the various answers, allowing readers to test and understand their reasoning and apply their knowledge. This board-preparation tool provides peer-reviewed rationales for why answers are correct, as well as why they are incorrect. In addition, users can create customized self-assessments in the Question Bank, which reinforce learning through repetition and focus.

The 22 chapters of content can be accessed on a desktop or a mobile phone and is updated every year. The 2022 content includes information about the impact of COVID across disease types and recommendations regarding COVID vaccinations during active treatment. The format of the content also has been revised, now allowing readers to pick up where they left off in a particular chapter and to keep track of progress with bookmarks and include notes that are automatically updated regardless of whether you are accessing via desktop or mobile. Users can read chapter content offline using the ASCO eBooks App, which is available in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Using Principles of Evidence-Based Education

The updates to ASCO-SEP Digital are part of the Society’s ongoing commitment to design educational products that are in accordance with the latest evidence about how people process, retain, and apply knowledge. The result is a series of educational products and experiences—a continuum of learning—that takes learners on a journey from hearing the latest studies and evidence presented at an ASCO meeting to applying these data to everyday clinical practice with their patients.

“A modern oncology workforce is really overworked and sometimes wants information that is less a comprehensive covering of a subject and more a clinical query,” said ASCO Education editorial board editor-in-chief Marie Wood, MD. “To better meet the needs of ASCO members, we’ve designed point-of-care learning that is concise, multidisciplinary, and really digestible so professionals can find something that helps them with a specific patient and a specific clinical question.”

Additional Benefits

The ASCO-SEP Digital Subscription includes access to related ASCO resources that have been custom-curated for each chapter, including session recordings and abstracts from ASCO meetings, ASCO podcasts, and ASCO Education courses.

For each ASCO-SEP Digital chapter assessment that you complete, you can earn Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points up to a total of 57.75 CME/MOC points in 2022.
