2019-2020 ASCO President

Breakthrough: A Global Summit for Oncology Innovators is an important collaboration: it’s our first international meeting and is being held in a major city, Bangkok, sponsored by ASCO and cohosted with the Thai Society of Clinical Oncology. We are bringing together unique experts in the field, including innovators, scientists, and technology specialists, all to discuss better solutions for cancer care.

The oncology community is expanding to include other participants, individuals with expertise in technologies, natural language processing, artificial intelligence, and various aspects of science that can help us improve care for our patients. As the field of cancer care advances, it will be critical to bring together these contributors to advance ideas and solutions, all to provide better patient care. It will be these unique perspectives, these innovative ways of thinking, that are really going to create powerful solutions.

I’m excited about Breakthrough because of the unique leaders involved. The opportunities to connect with leaders from different fields, from different countries, and from different vantage points is going to make for intriguing panel discussions and very different scientific debates. It’s going to be a wonderful meeting.

Breakthrough is new, exciting, and innovative. I'll certainly be there. You won’t want to miss it.
