Thomas J. Herzog, MD, became the president of The GOG Foundation, Inc. on July 20, 2023, taking over from Larry J. Copeland, MD, during the NRG Oncology Summer Meeting. This transition was also marked at The GOG Foundation, Inc. (GOG-F) Board of Directors meeting. Read the full press release
 
Tonia Onyeka, MBBS, was recently appointed National President of the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Nigeria (HPCAN). Dr. Onyeka’s mission as president is to drive a powerful campaign for the advancement of palliative care across Nigeria by promoting palliative care research output, securing accessible and adequate funding for palliative care services, thus ensuring no one is left without the compassionate support they deserve. 
 
Susan Tsai, MD, MHS, was named chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James). 
 
Niki Patel, MD, joined the Division of Medical Oncology at Cedars-Sinai Cancer. She is treating patients in Pasadena at Huntington Cancer Center at Huntington Health, an affiliate of Cedars-Sinai. 
 
Steven K. Clinton, MD, PhD, has been elected as a Fellow by the American Society for Nutrition (ASN). 
 
Audrey M. Sigmund, MD, was selected to participate in the 2023 American Society of Hematology (ASH) Advocacy Leadership Institute, which was held at ASH headquarters in Washington, DC. 
 
David Carbone, MD, PhD, FASCO, received the 2023 Bonnie J. Addario Lectureship Award from GO2 for Lung Cancer for his work in developing treatments for this disease. 
 
Sara Hurvitz, MD, was appointed senior vice president of the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and head of the newly united Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Washington Department of Medicine in Seattle. 
 
Yoshie Umemura, MD, BS, was appointed chief medical officer of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center and chief of neuro-oncology and the William and Joan Shapiro Chair of Neuro-Oncology at Barrow Neurological Institute. 
 
The members of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) recently elected new officers to ASTRO’s Board of Directors, including Sameer Keole, MD, FASTRO, as president-elect and Wendy Woodward, MD, PhD, FASTRO, as science council vice chair.
