It will soon be spring and that means it’s time to start planning your ASCO Annual Meeting experience. Our cover story will help you do just that with a sneak preview of the highlights of this year’s Education Program with insight from Cancer Education Committee Program Chair Dr. Antoinette Tan. We also explore the theme—Building Bridges to Conquer Cancer—chosen by ASCO President Dr. Sandra Swain to illustrate, among other points, the need to better connect science with clinical practice, with the ultimate goal of bringing the highest quality care to patients.

As Dr. Swain discusses in the cover story, we also need to bridge gaps in health disparities worldwide. In that pursuit, I am especially pleased to announce in this issue the launch of ASCO International—a new and ambitious initiative that will double ASCO’s programs in global cancer care over the next four years.

We also feature a debate on intraoperative radiation therapy for early-stage breast cancer, discuss the importance of incorporating patient-sensitive language into all aspects of our practice and research, and share the perspectives and experiences of a variety of ASCO members in articles and interviews throughout the magazine.
