Introducing JCO’s Newest Editors

January 2011: The following individuals recently started their terms as Journal of Clinical Oncology (JCO) editors:

  • Levi A. Garraway, MD, PhD, of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, was named Consultant Editor of the Biology of Neoplasia section in November 2010, replacing Stephen A. Cannistra, MD. Dr. Garraway brings expertise in cancer genetics, targeted therapy, and molecular diagnostics to this section of JCO, which explores timely topics in the basic science of cancer.
  • David P. Steensma, MD, also of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, was named Consultant Editor of the Art of Oncology section and started his term in September 2010, replacing Charles L. Loprinzi, MD. Dr. Steensma previously served for five years as an Editorial Board Member and reviewer of Art of Oncology submissions. Regular readers of this section will recognize Dr. Steensma as the author of three original works published over the last few years: Don’t Mention It, The Blood of the Lamb, and, most recently, A Cello for Michayla.
  • Alan P. Venook, MD, of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), was named Associate Editor in November 2010, replacing Nicholas J. Petrelli, MD. Dr. Venook is a renowned expert in gastrointestinal cancers and leads the Gastrointestinal Oncology Clinical Program at UCSF.
