ASCO University Offers New Mobile Learning Activities through iTunesU

ASCO University® is now offering an engaging new mobile learning platform on iTunes University (iTunesU). The mobile format is designed to provide educational activities to those who prefer a format outside of the typical online experience.

Content is available through both an ASCO members-only site and a public site. While the public site includes content of interest to a general audience interested in cancer care, the members-only site offers content that is specific for a professional audience. Selected presentations from the more in-depth courses on ASCO University are adapted for a shorter presentation format that is conducive to mobile learning. On both sites, a variety of topics are covered through podcast and video (vodcast) formats. These formats can be accessed by subscribers in two ways:

  1. Users can download the material to a laptop, tablet, or mp3 player to learn on the go—once the download is complete, no need for a dedicated Internet connection.
  2. Stream directly from iTunes on a computer or tablet.

The publicly accessible site includes collections from Cancer.Net and ASCO University’s Focus Under Forty™ Series, as well as a preview of what is available on the members-only site. The members-only site includes collections covering the major tumor areas, as well as selected ASCO Virtual Meeting Highlights. Podcasts from the Journal of Oncology Practice, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, and the ASCO Annual Meeting Educational Book are also included.
