2012 Breast Cancer Symposium Features an Evolved Program This year’s Breast Cancer Symposium will include two new session types: ticketed Meet the Professor Sessions, which will provide attendees an opportunity for maximum interaction with faculty, and an “open mic” Tumor Board Session, during which a faculty panel will discuss real cases submitted by attendees. Also new this year, expanded ticketed Poster Walks will be available to all attendees; “Walk Leaders” will put the presented science into context and review its significance.

Hosted by ASCO every two years, Markers in Cancer 2012 will present the latest advances in cancer biomarkers to assess drug efficacy, improve prognostic and predictive evaluations and imaging, and enhance clinical trial development. According to Walter M. Stadler, MD, Chair of the Markers in Cancer 2012 Scientific Committee, “The oft-quoted goals of personalized care in cancer cannot be accomplished without further clinical and translational development of biomarkers. This meeting will bring together a diverse group of individuals from many fields who are all interested in developing and expanding use of biomarkers in cancer. The opportunity to cross-fertilize and learn from each other is tremendous.”

Celebrating 10 Years The Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium is a high-profile, specialized oncology event designed for the exchange of the latest research and science in cancers of the pancreas, small bowel, and hepatobiliary tract; colon and rectum; and esophagus and stomach. This year’s program will also take a look back over the triumphs, challenges, and lessons learned from the past 10 years for each disease site in special sessions titled “A Decade in Review.”
