The November 2011 issue of theJournal of Oncology Practice (JOP) features an article from the ExemplaryAttributes of Clinical Trials Sitesseries focused on the use of NCI’sAccrualNet. The article complementsoriginal research, also published in theNovember 2011 issue, on “AccrualNet:Addressing Low Accrual Via a Knowledge-Based, Community of PracticePlatform.”

AccrualNet is an online resource toaddress challenges associated withaccruing patients to cancer clinicaltrials. The website uses several modalitiesto help research teams learn aboutevidence-based accrual methods,access tools and templates, educatestaff, and network withcolleagues.

The January 2011 article from theExemplary Attributes of Clinical TrialsSites series focuses on engagingreferring physicians in the clinical trialsprocess.

Referring physicians can play animportant role in clinical trial enrollment,yet they often have little knowledgeabout cancer clinical trials and donot discuss this treatment option withpatients. The article provides practicaladvice on how oncologists can engagereferring physicians in the clinical trialsprocess. It is accompanied by a datasupplement and is designed to be usedby oncologists when talking with referringphysicians about clinical trials.
