Educational Materials for Patients at the 2012 ASCO Annual Meeting

  • Cancer Survivorship: Next Steps for Patients and Their Families. This booklet gives an overview of the challenges faced by cancer survivors and includes information on the importance of follow-up care, rehabilitation, managing long-term side effects, and maintaining lifelong health.   • Advanced Cancer Care Planning. Designed for people with advanced cancer and their family and caregivers, this booklet provides information on discussing options for care throughout the course of the illness and finding support. PDFs in English and Spanish can be downloaded at cancer.net/advancedcancer.
  • Cancer.Net Guides to Cancer. These booklets on breast, colorectal, lung, and prostate cancers provide an overview of the disease, medical illustrations, risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis, staging, treatment, clinical trials, side effects, post-treatment advice, current research, and questions to ask the doctor.   • ASCO Answers Fact Sheets. This fact sheet series covers adult and childhood cancers, as well as types of treatments and side effects. Fact sheets on breast, prostate, colorectal, and lung cancer are also available in Spanish. Find downloadable PDFs at cancer.net/factsheets.
  • Managing the Cost of Cancer Care. This booklet provides information about the types of costs associated with cancer care and treatment, questions to ask about the cost of care, and information on understanding the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.   • Cancer in Older Adults. Cancer.Net’s booklet for older adults provides information on the physical and emotional changes that are associated with aging and cancer, including recommendations for coping with daily life, cancer treatment, and coexisting conditions. It can also be found online at cancer.net/olderadults.

Visit ASCO Central in the Oncology Professionals Hall (located in Hall A1 through A2 on Level 3 of the South Building) from Saturday, June 2, through Monday, June 4, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM to browse these materials and pick up free promotional materials that direct your patients to Cancer.Net (including referral cards, brochures, sticky notes, memo pads, and pens).
