ASCO University: New Design, and a Wealth of Educational Content

Jul 20, 2012

In response to feedback from ASCO volunteers, the ASCO University website was recently redesigned, both in look and functionality, to make it more streamlined and to allow for easier navigation through the extensive catalog of content.

All of the ASCO University content is housed under the “eLearning” area of the site, where the participant can locate all of the courses by Cancer Topics, which mimic how content is organized on other ASCO websites in order to give users a consistent search experience. This allows for a simpler means of navigation depending on the oncology topic/disease site that the participant is most interested in learning about.

The ASCO University features a great deal of unique educational content including the following series:

  • Oncology Slide Library
A repository of slides that participants can use to build their own educational presentations; over 90% of the 2012 Annual Meeting presenters uploaded their slides!

  • Oncology Literature Reviews
Quarterly summaries of recently published journal articles on the topics of breast cancer, GI and GU cancers, lung cancers, and lymphoma; allows for access to full text papers.

  • ASCO University e-Seminars
Meeting highlights presented via easy-to-access, live 1-hour e-Seminars, captured on video for viewing at a later date.

  • ASCO Tumor Boards
Free content developed by expert faculty, some of whom are internationally based, and cover such topics as Multiple Myeloma, Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors, and AIDS-related Lymphoma.
