The ASCO Post welcomed Syed A. Abutalib, MD, MBBS, as a new member of their Editorial Board. Dr. Abutalib is the Assistant Director of the Hematology and FACT Accredited Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Program at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America’s Midwestern Regional Medical Center.

 

Waddah B. Al-Refaie, MD, was named the new John S. Dillon Chair in Surgical Oncology at Georgetown University.

 

 

Stephen Maxted Ansell, MD, PhD, Chair of the Lymphoma Group and Chair of the Faculty Development and Recruitment for Hematology at the Mayo Clinic, joined Affimed’s new Scientific Advisory Board.

 

 

Karla V. Ballman, PhD, was named the Chief of the Division of Biostatics and Epidemiology for the Department of Healthcare Policy and Research at Weill Cornell Medical College.

 

 

NanoString Technologies named Alessandra Cesano, MD, PhD, as its new Chief Medical Officer.

 

 

Steven E. Finkelstein, MD, National Director of the Translational Research Consortium at 21st Century Oncology, joined the ASCO Connection Editorial Board. Dr. Finkelstein serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Translational Genomic Research Institute and as Executive Director of the Arizona Cancer Research Alliance, where he is responsible for expanding patient access to advanced cancer care.

 

San Francisco CyberKnife welcomed Alexander B. Geng, MD, a radiation oncologist, as its new Medical Director.

 

 

Massachusetts General Hospital Center recognized William N. Hait, MD, PhD, Global Head of Janssen Research & Development, as one of the 100 Everyday Amazing individuals who are committed to curing cancer.

 

F. Stephen Hodi, MD, Director of the Melanoma Center and the Center for Immuno-Oncology at the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center, joined Deciphera Pharmaceuticals’ Scientific Advisory Board.

 

The American Society for Radiation Oncology elected Brian D. Kavanagh, MD, MPH, FASTRO, as the society’s 2015-2016 President- Elect. Dr. Kavanagh is the Interim Chair and a Professor of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, as well as an Attending Physician at the University of Colorado Hospital. Dr. Kavanagh was recently appointed to a two-year term on the Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC).

The Hope Center for Cancer Care welcomed Sanaullah Khalid, MD, as a Medical Oncologist.

 

 

Indiana University (IU) welcomed Roberto Pili, MD, as a Researcher for the IU Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center. He will join IU as the new Robert Wallace Miller Professor of Oncology and Director of Genitourinary Oncology.

 

Michael A. Pulsipher, MD, is joining the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases. He will also be the new Head and Clinical Research Chair of the Blood and Marrow Transplantation Section, in the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Blood and Marrow Transplantation at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

 

 

Zachary Reese, MD, joined the Intermountain Southwest Regional Cancer Clinic as an Oncologist/Hematologist.

 

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center named George Wilding, MD, as the new Vice Provost for Clinical and Interdisciplinary Research.
