Clifford A. Hudis, MD, FACP, FASCO, Selected for Drexel 100

Drexel University has recognized Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Clifford A. Hudis, MD, FACP, FASCO, as a Drexel 100 member. Created in 1992 to celebrate Drexel’s centennial, inductees to the Drexel 100 are university alums celebrated for their significant contributions to their respective fields, elected once every two years by current Drexel 100 members. Dr. Hudis was honored at the Drexel 100 Induction Ceremony on May 20, 2017.

A highly respected and innovative oncology leader, Dr. Hudis is one of the nation’s leading specialists in breast cancer treatment. Currently the CEO of ASCO, his impressive and influential career in oncology has included serving as the Chief of the Breast Medicine Service and Attending Physician at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, Professor of Medicine at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and holding leadership positions for both the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. He previously received the 2008 Drexel University College of Medicine WMC/MCP Achievement Award, which recognizes graduates of the Medical College of Pennsylvania who are highly acclaimed for their service and leadership in the medical profession. 

“Dr. Clifford Hudis, Drexel University College of Medicine Class of 1983, was selected for the Drexel 100 in recognition of his professional achievements as one of the nation’s foremost oncologists,” said Kenneth H. Goldman, Senior Associate Vice President, Presidential Initiatives at Drexel University. “His dedicated work has brought hope to and relieved the suffering of countless breast cancer patients. The Drexel 100, the University’s “alumni hall of fame,” recognizes those alumni who achievements have brought great honor to the University. In Dr. Hudis’s case, he has also performed outstanding service to society, and we are deeply proud to acknowledge him as one of our graduates. New inductees into the Drexel 100 are elected by past members, so Dr. Hudis’s induction reflects broad consensus in the Drexel community about his profound contributions to medical care.”

Dr. Hudis has dedicated over 20 years of service to ASCO. Before becoming CEO of ASCO in 2016, Dr. Hudis held a myriad of leadership positions in the Society, including former Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Oncology and President of ASCO during its 50th anniversary year, 2013-2014.
