ASCO’s support of Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO), an international medical education organization, provides an opportunity to strengthen cancer care medical centers in low-resource countries. By volunteering for HVO’s education and training programs through the International Cancer Corps (ICC), oncology professionals can share their medical expertise and build long-term, supportive relationships with the clinicians who provide cancer care in these countries. Make a profound difference in the cancer care provided at hospital host sites outside the United States when you travel for a one- to four-week educational visit to assist local physicians in enhancing their capacity and knowledge.
Current ICC sites include:
- Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
- Hue, Vietnam
- Tegucigalpa, Honduras
Information on current and upcoming ICC sites is available at asco.org/international. Members interested in learning more about volunteering for HVO through ICC should send an email to international@asco.org, or contact HVO by sending an email to d.stonehirsch@hvousa.org.
