Nominate a Colleague for the 2022 ASCO Special Awards

All ASCO members are encouraged to take a moment and nominate individuals for the 2022 Special Awards. As a member of the global clinical oncology community, you have first-hand knowledge of the individuals who have dedicated their lives to conquering cancer. They could be an exceptional colleague, mentor, teacher, collaborator, leader, or friend. Please help ASCO recognize the people who have made significant contributions to the field by nominating someone today.

ASCO members may be nominated for:

Advocate of the Year Award
Who’s eligible? Individuals whose advocacy efforts have impacted public awareness about cancer, its causes, cures, or treatment, or activities that result in additional support either legislatively or fiscally for cancer research, treatment, prevention or care.

Allen Lichter Visionary Leader Award
Who’s eligible? ASCO members who have demonstrated innovative and inspirational leadership to significantly advance the mission of ASCO and transform oncology and the overall cancer community.

ASCO-American Cancer Society Award
Who’s eligible? ASCO members who have made a significant contribution to cancer prevention and control research or practice.

B.J. Kennedy Geriatric Oncology Award
Who’s eligible? Geriatric oncologists who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and achievement in the field, with a professional record that includes advanced scholarship and effective mentorship of fellows.

David Karnofsky Award
Who’s eligible? Oncologists who have made outstanding contributions to cancer research, diagnosis, and/or treatment of cancer.

Excellence in Equity Award
Who’s eligible? ASCO members who have made significant and measurable contributions towards increasing equity, diversity, and inclusion within the field of oncology, or increasing access to equitable care for patients with cancer.

Excellence in Teaching Award
Who’s eligible? Physician educators who have had a demonstrable impact on their trainees (residents, postdoctoral fellows, and/or clinical fellows).

Gianni Bonadonna Breast Cancer Award
Who’s eligible? Active clinical and/or translational researchers with a proven track record in mentoring fellows and junior faculty and with a distinguished record of accomplishments in advancing the field of breast cancer.

Humanitarian Award
Who’s eligible? ASCO members who personify ASCO’s mission and values by going above and beyond the call of duty in providing outstanding patient care through innovative means or exceptional service or leadership in the United States or abroad.

Pediatric Oncology Award
Who’s eligible? Pediatric oncologists who have demonstrated outstanding leadership or achievement in the field.

Science of Oncology Award
Who’s eligible? Individuals known for their major contributions to basic or translational research in cancer.

Walther Cancer Foundation Supportive Oncology Award
Who’s eligible? Individuals who have made multiple, significant, and enduring contributions to palliative and supportive care in oncology through the prevention, assessment, and management of cancer- and treatment-related suffering.

Additional criteria and requirements may apply to some awards. Individuals may be nominated for more than one award if they meet the criteria for each. It takes just a few minutes—you will be asked to log in to the nomination page, select an award, enter an individual’s name, and provide brief answers to a few questions about the individual’s contributions and qualifications. The deadline to submit a nomination is September 30, 2021.

The Special Awards will be presented at the ASCO Annual Meeting on June 3-7, 2022, in Chicago, Illinois.
