New ASCO-SEP Edition to Launch Online, Expands Reach to Global Oncology Community

Apr 28, 2020

The 7th edition of the ASCO Self-Evaluation Program® (ASCO-SEP®) will be offered online in August to expand its reach to physicians and advanced practitioners. It will also feature new content that addresses oncologic care in a global setting.

The new edition of ASCO-SEP includes 22 chapters of disease-specific content, including breast, lung, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary cancers. It also provides the latest practice updates on topics such as molecular oncology, immuno-oncology, biologic therapy, genetics, symptom management, and palliative care. Learners in the global oncology community will also gain new insight into the unique challenges of cancer care around the world in the “Global Perspectives” section of each chapter.

“ASCO-SEP has served thousands of physicians since it was first published in 2007. The new edition is better than ever because it has the potential to reach physicians globally,” said ASCO-SEP editor in chief Benjamin Levy, MD. “The program also provides a more expansive body of expertise to serve not only physicians, but advanced practitioners as well.”

The self-assessment tool enables learners to test their knowledge across the full range of topics, and they can receive credit for self-assessments after each chapter.

Additionally, a new ASCO eBook app will host a version of ASCO-SEP content and offer new features for readers to take notes, add bookmarks, and search the content. A print version of ASCO-SEP will also be available.

ASCO-SEP online will be updated every 6 months to capture new advances in medical oncology and feature more tables, graphics, and other resources embedded in the program, including ASCO, NCCN, and ESMO Practice Guidelines.

Learners will have access to ASCO podcasts, eLearning courses, and selected videos from ASCO Meeting Library to benefit from a more comprehensive learning experience.

Those who use the self-study tool are eligible for continuing education and continuing medical education credit, and ABIM Maintenance of Certification points. Oncology nurses and nurse practitioners may also claim ILNA points for their continuing certification.
