Charles L. Sawyers, MD, was named the first-ever STAT Biomedical Innovation Award winner.
 
Priya Hays, PhD, Deepak Asudani, MD, MPH, and Caitlin Costello, MD, published “Clinical care of chimeric antigen receptor T-cell patients and managing immune-related adverse effects in the ambulatory and hospitalized setting: a review” in the December 2019 issue of Future Oncology.
 
The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) recognized several ASCO members with 2019 Gold Medal awards and other high-profile honors at its 2019 ASTRO Annual Meeting. Walter John Curran, Jr., MD, FACR, FASCO, and Silvia Formenti, MD, FASTRO, were Gold Medal recipients, and Corey J. Langer, MD, was chosen as the 2019 ASTRO Honorary Member. 
 
The Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute welcomed Zanetta Lamar, MD, to the statewide practice, where she will be practicing medical oncology and hematology. 
 
Friends of Cancer Research presented Steven A. Rosenberg, MD, PhD, FASCO, with the Cancer Research Leadership Award at its 23rd Annual Cancer Leadership Awards Reception.
 
Benjamin Levine Ebert, MD, PhD, and David P. Steensma, MD, FACP, will lead the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as scientific director and clinical research director, respectively.
 
Susan G. Komen selected Matthew J. Ellis, BSc, MB, BChir, PhD, FRCP, as one of three recipients of the Brinker Award for Scientific Distinction. 
 
The American Oncology Network, LLC named Craig H. Reynolds, MD, to its board.
 
The American College of Clinical Pharmacology honored Peter Wiernik, FASCO, MD, with the Nathaniel T. Kwit Memorial Distinguished Service Award at its annual meeting. 
 
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center announced the promotion of Thaer Khoury, MD, to chief of breast pathology within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the center’s campus in Buffalo, NY.
 
The National Academy of Medicine announced the election of 90 regular members and 10 international members during its 2019 Annual Meeting, including the following ASCO members: Nita Ahuja, MD, MBA, Betty R. Ferrell, PhD, Daphne A. Haas-Kogan, MD, Elizabeth M. Jaffee, MD, and Ernst Lengyel, MD, PhD. 
 
ASCO recognized Thomas J. Smith, MD, FACP, FASCO, FAAHPM, with the Walther Cancer Foundation Palliative and Supportive Care in Oncology Endowed Award and Lecture. 
 
Kazuaki Takabe, MD, PhD, FACS, delivered a keynote lecture on immunotherapy for breast cancer at the Japan Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting. 
 
Robert Winn, MD, was named director of Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Cancer Center (VCU).
 
The Stanford Medicine Department of Medicine welcomed Curtis Robert Chong, MD, PhD, as a new clinical assistant professor of oncology. 
 
Thomas Gajewski, MD, PhD, received the 2019 European Society for Medical Oncology Award for Immuno-Oncology. 
 
The Association of Community Cancer Centers presented the David King Community Clinical Scientist Award to Paul D. Hansen, MD, FACS. 
 
Nicholas J. Petrelli, MD, FASCO, received the Tilton Award from the Medical Society of Delaware. 
 
The European School of Oncology, together with the Advanced Breast Cancer Global Alliance, presented Fatima Cardoso, MD, with the 2019 Advanced Breast Cancer Award.
