Improve the care your practice provides by participating in ASCO’s wide array of quality improvement programs.

ASCO’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI^®) is an oncologist-led, practice-based quality assessment program designed to promote excellence in cancer care by helping practices create a culture of self-examination and improvement. Participating practices can report on over 170 evidence-based quality measures and receive individual performance scores by practice, site, and provider, as well as benchmarked scores aggregated from all participating practices. QOPI has helped more than 1,000 practices to date conduct self-examination and identify specific areas for quality improvement.

The QOPI^® Certification Program (QCP™) provides a 3-year certification for outpatient hematology-oncology practices. The program provides a standard methodology, robust library of quality metrics for oncology, and a collection tool to reliably and routinely assess care, inform quality improvement activities, and demonstrate quality to patients and external stakeholders. QOPI Certified practices are well positioned to meet external reporting requirements for payers and the government and participate in new payment models focused on quality.  

Practices who participate in QOPI and who are QOPI Certified may also qualify for Improvement Activity points for the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) reporting. The Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) Reporting Registry, a Qualified Clinical Data Registry brought to you by ASCO and the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), offers practices a one-stop shop for submitting your MIPS data to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

ASCO’s Quality Training Program (QTP) aims to train oncology providers to design, implement, and lead successful quality improvement activities in their practice settings and to train oncologists to assume quality leadership positions and champion quality initiatives. Developed by oncologists and oncology care specialists for oncology practice teams, the program includes access to renowned faculty and coaches. The 6-month program includes 5 days of in-person learning across three sessions, as well as hands-on learning at the participants’ practices. To ensure a well-rounded experience, sessions include seminars, case examples, and small group exercises.
