ASCO Quality Training Program Reaches 100-Team Milestone; New One-Day Option Now Available

Jan 07, 2019

As of October 2018, more than 100 teams from oncology practices around the United States and the world have participated in ASCO’s Quality Training Program (QTP).

The QTP offers education and training for physician-led oncology teams. The program prepares teams of oncology providers to design, implement, and lead successful quality improvement activities in their practice settings. The traditional 6-month course includes access to renowned faculty and coaches through 5 focused days of in-person learning over three sessions during which practice teams attend seminars, review case examples, and participate in small-group exercises. Learning then continues with on-demand, remote coaching sessions.

As the program expands, ASCO is also expanding the course format options to include a 1-day course that takes place onsite at the participating practice. The 1-day workshop option, which introduces tools and frameworks used in quality improvement, enables attendees to effectively lead or participate in improvement activities. It is customized to each practice’s needs and requirements and led by the same esteemed faculty of the traditional 6-month course. The workshop is aimed at empowering oncology providers with skills in quality improvement to reduce clinical variation and improve patient outcomes. After the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify techniques and tools used in quality improvement
  • Identify relevant metrics
  • Structure a quality improvement project.
