On behalf of the ASCO Professional Development Committee, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Physician Wellness blog.

As a response to the recognized need to address burnout and promote physician wellness, we have developed this blog for ASCO members to share their stories, lessons learned, and best practices with regard to maintaining one’s quality of life and passion for patient care.

While several of the posts in this blog will be authored by members of the Professional Development Committee and by experts in physician wellness and professional burnout, all ASCO members are encouraged to contribute their perspectives to this important topic. We see this blog as an interactive and collaborative undertaking and encourage your posts and comments. Dr. Ramalingam is a professor of hematology and medical oncology, director of medical oncology, and assistant dean for cancer research in the Emory University School of Medicine. He holds the Roberto C. Goizueta Distinguished Chair in Cancer Research and serves as deputy director of the Winship Cancer Institute.
