ASCO Connection Expands Coverage of Trainee and Early-Career Topics

Dec 14, 2015

By Jonathan S. Berek, MD, MMS, FASCO
Editor in Chief, ASCO Connection

Two years ago, ASCO launched ASCO Connection: Trainee & Early-Career Oncologists as a stand-alone publication to bring you articles, interviews, and advice on board exam preparation, professional development, career paths in oncology, grants and awards, lifestyle topics, news from ASCO, and information about your member benefits.

Based on valuable member feedback, we will be delivering this information to our readers in new ways this year.

Beginning with this January 2016 issue, we will greatly expand the presence of early-career topics in the regular bi-monthly issues of ASCO Connection, and cease to publish that content in a separate publication. Now, the articles contributed on these topics can be read by ASCO’s full membership in print and online.

And we hope you will contribute! Articles for print and/or online publication, or commentary on your personal experience as a trainee or early-career oncologist, are always welcome in our pages and on our website.

We love celebrating your good news, so please continue to send announcements for our Member News column to ascoconnection@asco.org. This is the perfect place to share information about awards, job changes, promotions, publications, and other professional achievements.

For those who prefer to read our articles online, ASCOconnection.org will continue to maintain its dedicated section for trainee and early-career content. Visit ASCOconnection.org/TEC to read and comment on articles written by your peers and by experts on career development topics, and to find the latest issue of ASCO Connection in an interactive digital format.

At the 2016 ASCO Annual Meeting, visit the Trainee & Active Junior Lounge to pick up a special edition of ASCO Connection featuring a collection of our best articles and online commentary on early-career topics from the past year.

ASCO’s medical student, intern, fellow, resident, and junior faculty members are a valued part of our Society. We are very pleased to make ASCO Connection more inclusive of your needs and interests as an important constituency of our membership.

ASCO is always here to support our trainee and early-career members as you develop into the next generation of leaders in our field, and your feedback is welcome and encouraged. What topics or issues are you most interested in reading about? What questions do you have for ASCO leaders or established members of your field? Are you interested in contributing an article or online commentary? Help us continue to represent your interests and meet your professional development needs by writing to ascoconnection@asco.org— we look forward to your comments.
