Dear ASCO Members,

The ASCO Nominating Committee is charged with selecting candidates for the future Society leadership. Our goal was a simple one: assemble the best slate of candidates and ensure that the ASCO leadership represents the breadth and depth of the ASCO membership. We looked for diversity of practice setting, disease and/or research focus, and geography. We also considered the current and future challenges our profession faces, including the incorporation of technology, the burgeoning cost of cancer care, changing patient demographics, and the need to attract trainees to oncology. We debated the role of ASCO in global health.

We assembled more than 100 candidates, interviewed approximately 30, and ultimately selected 14 nominees for your consideration. You can review their biographies and visions for ASCO and our profession at asco.org/election. I think you’ll agree that they represent an outstanding group of leaders who have made substantial contributions to ASCO and the profession.

The ASCO Nominating Committee has finished its work… now it’s your turn.

Recent world and national events make one thing abundantly clear—elections matter! As a citizen of ASCO you enjoy substantial benefits and privileges, and with those benefits comes responsibility to participate. Please take the time to let your voice be heard and VOTE.

Thank you!

One last thing—as you see the candidates out and about, please thank them for their willingness to serve and consider volunteering for an ASCO committee yourself.
