ASCO Symposium Helps Practices Leverage Health IT

Dec 20, 2011

In November, the Society held a Health IT/EHR Symposium in Atlanta to help community oncology practices and large institutions navigate recent health care policy changes and leverage health information technology to improve the quality of care.

“The ASCO Health IT/EHR Symposium provided a great opportunity to view the rapidly expanding area of oncology HIT, how it currently affects oncology practices, and what the opportunities are going forward,” said Lawrence N. Shulman, MD, FACP, who served on the meeting’s Program Planning Committee. “The ability to review a wide range of topics and to see so many vendor products in one location was a unique opportunity in this area demanding our attention.” Dr. Shulman is Chief of the Division of General Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
