Is there something you love about your EHR? Something you hate? Something you want? I'm personally excited by all these new tablet PCs that are coming out...

We're in the process of implementing EMR for our practice.  Our due diligence seems to show significant flaws in designe, especially in work flow for the nurses (one patient per one screen per one nurse at a time vs multiple patients per nurse...) as well as drug billing where drug "wasting" is calculated in the services and drugs rendered.  Anybody have any experience in this regard.  Our first pass was with NextGen, we were not impressed.  John Axelson, M.D.

We are searching for an oncology EHR.
I'm generally very disappointed with the information that is available out there about the different venders.  So many physicians have already implemented EHR's and yet it seems we have to research each vender and their product ourselves which is a daunting task for a small practice.
Why cant someone just list the top 5 or top 10 best oncology EHR's worth looking at so the rest of us dont have to waste our time?

It bugs me to no end that Varian Aria has had minimal change and improvement over the 6 1/2 years that we have been using it. I think there have been three versions of Windows in this same time.

I think we need to have a place that we can comment on the vendors, what they say they will offer it is not what we see practically and ones experince should become others lessons. we need to have some one to do the comparison and the homework for us, and be able to make sure they will do what is needed to be done, we as oncologist are not IT person and not know what is involved, I just dropped altos ( oncoemr) because of ( 1- They do not outline your implementatin 2- they do not commit themselves to the schaduled meeting and in 2 weeks we had 5 cancelatin of web training, 3- they do not talk to you to understand you or your practice and what is important to you 4- they are unprofessional, do not return your call on your question one time after 5pm the sale rep told me she does not return calls after 5 pm becasue she is with her 15 month kid having dinner together!!! 5- they are very expensive 100 percent more than other vendors, 48,000 for implementaion ( with the lab interface)  and 22,000 for yearly cost  6- they want you to do the work in the implementaion ( you have to write the provider name and contact info in the way their system would accept and do the upload yourself and they would want you to upload the fee schadule again in thte format that thier system will accept and want you to sign in in thier clearing house to get all the codes for the payers yourself and upload them, 7- they want you to make all of templete, from notes to labs,chemo,..8- their oncebilling is only one year out and does not have the verification system, and the codes that are created into billing is not all correct and needs correction, 9-they do not place interface for your cbc mashine you need to do it yourself by buying a HL7 and they do not help with it, and for that interface they charge you 6,000, 10- their system is not friendly looking, they have all the documents in one place ( path, radiology, notes, labs ... and you have to sort it if you need to look into  a specific one). I hope this would help others.

We are currently looking at two options, myhealthtek.com and lifelongphr.com. The first one is the web-based and the second one will run on your PC. Will give update once both of them are evaluated.
