2017 ASCO Practice Census: Take the Survey Today to Help Shape the Future of Cancer Care

At ASCO, we believe in serving your practice or institution as well as you serve your patients with cancer.  As you regularly monitor the health of your patients, ASCO regularly gathers information on what is happening in the oncology practice environment. I encourage your practice or institution to take part in the 2017 ASCO Practice Census. This census is the only annual survey of the entire U.S. oncology practice community—community practices, hospitals, academic institutions, and health systems—that aims to capture and describe changes in cancer care and oncology practice over time.

I know you must receive many requests to complete surveys, but your participation in this survey is incredibly important as ASCO strives to meet the specific needs of you and all ASCO members. Preparing for the future starts with gaining clarity about the present state of oncology care. Our goal is for practices in all settings across the United States to provide feedback in the 2017 ASCO Practice Census.

We thank the nearly 500 practices that responded to the Practice Census in 2016, and we are working to significantly increase the number of practices responding in 2017. I invite you to review the valuable insights obtained from last year’s census, chronicled in ASCO’s State of Cancer Care in America: 2017. Census data is also used to help inform ASCO’s policy and advocacy efforts, and initiatives and programs across the society.

This year’s survey has 20 easy-to-answer questions covering major topics affecting oncology practices today, including:

  • Practice pressures
  • Opioid policies
  • Clinical trial participation
  • EHR interoperability
  • Coverage and reimbursement

I’d like to thank past participants of the ASCO Practice Census, and I encourage all of you to ask your practice or institutional leadership to participate this year. By taking a few moments to complete the survey, you can help shape the future of cancer care and oncology practice in the United States.

Take the 2017 ASCO Practice Census today! The first 200 to complete the survey will receive a $50 Amazon gift card.
