By Travis Hicks, ASCO Staff; and Hilary Adams, Staff Writer

With almost 2 million unique visitors in the last year, ASCO.org serves as a comprehensive source for information regarding ASCO’s meetings and resources. In April, ASCO launched a new and improved website, with a focus on improving the user experience. The Society’s redesigned online home makes it easier than ever for members and visitors to find the oncology-related information and resources they trust and value. The site’s redesign is the culmination of a collaborative year-long effort involving ASCO leaders, members, site visitors, and staff. Designers incorporated insights from interviews and focus groups, research, and testing into the site’s overall layout, organization, and function.

The Content You Need

Looking for meeting abstracts, updates on policy issues, or the latest research from ASCO journals? Want to register for an upcoming meeting, pay your dues, or find a colleague’s contact information? ASCO’s diverse portfolio of content has been centralized and organized on the redesigned ASCO.org to help you easily find what you’re looking for and accomplish specific tasks. The updated homepage highlights key initiatives and major events in a “Featured Content” section, providing at-a-glance access to high-priority items. The new “Most Visited” section highlights content frequently visited or sought by oncology professionals, such as Annual Meeting registration information and abstracts. A new and improved digital calendar allows you to quickly browse details on the top oncology-related events taking place around the world. In addition, ASCO.org serves as a portal to all of the Society’s affiliated websites, including ASCOconnection.org, Cancer.Net, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Additional resources, including online learning tools, clinical practice guidelines, meeting abstracts, and patient resources are just a click away.

Streamlined Navigation

The updated site makes it easy to dive into ASCO’s wealth of digital resources. Site sections and landing pages are designed to fit users’ needs and are organized around major themes such as Research & Progress, Training & Education, and Membership. The updated menu on ASCO.org provides a clear overview of the resources located in each area of the site, minimizing the number of clicks it takes to find the content you’re seeking. As you explore, “breadcrumb” navigation at the top of each page allows you to track back to higher-level pages or the homepage with a single click.

Volunteer Portal

ASCO volunteers and members interested in applying for volunteer roles will benefit from the new Volunteer Portal, which compiles all tasks associated with volunteering into one central hub. Members can access descriptions and current rosters for all of ASCO’s committees, and volunteers can update their conflict of interest disclosure information, review documents related to their committee work, and even communicate with fellow committee members.

Access From Anywhere

Importantly, the improvements and new features on the redesigned ASCO.org are compatible with all mobile devices, including phones and tablets. No matter how you access the site, you’ll have the same great experience navigating and finding the content and resources you need. Users are encouraged to visit the site and provide feedback using the “Contact” form located at the bottom of the page, or by emailing redesign@asco.org.
