The Conquer Cancer Foundation of ASCO honored three oncology practices with 2016 Clinical Trials Participation Awards (CTPA) at the ASCO Annual Meeting in Chicago. This year’s winners, which included community-based practices in Nebraska, Illinois, and Virginia, were recognized for their high-quality clinical research sites. Through the CTPA, the Conquer Cancer Foundation aims to recognize and increase both awareness of and participation in clinical trials among physicians.

“The Conquer Cancer Foundation is proud to honor the Clinical Trials Participation Award recipients for their involvement in clinical cancer care advancements,” said Thomas G. Roberts, Jr., MD, Chair of the Conquer Cancer Foundation Board of Directors. “These recognized practices demonstrate a commitment to not only furthering our understanding of cancer, but also to bringing cutting-edge therapies and treatment options directly to their communities, greatly benefiting their patients.”

Practices that receive the CTPA are selected based on a variety of criteria, with preference given to research sites that have demonstrated the ability to overcome barriers in clinical trials accrual, as well as to provide care and outreach to underserved populations in their communities.

The 2016 CTPA recipients are:

• CHI Health St. Francis Cancer Treatment Center, Grand Island, NE
• Joliet Oncology Hematology Associates, Ltd., Joliet, IL
• Virginia Cancer Specialists Research Institute, Fairfax, VA

The CTPA has been generously supported by the Coalition of Cancer Cooperative Groups for the past 14 years.
