Applications for 2016 Quality Training Program Due June 15, Participants Eligible for CME Credits

Apr 27, 2016

ASCO’s Quality Training Program is currently accepting applications for this year’s program, due by June 15, 2016 (applicants are encouraged to apply early to reserve their space). The program is designed to train oncology health care providers to investigate and implement data-driven quality improvement and manage clinical and non-clinical processes and outcomes. Participants are eligible to receive continuing education credits.

The Quality Training Program is centered around 5 days of in-person learning over 6 months. The sessions will be held at ASCO Headquarters in Alexandria, VA, on:
•    July 13–14, 2016
•    October 5–6, 2016
•    January 26, 2017

For the five in-person sessions, participants are grouped into teams, and each team attends three sessions, which include seminars, case studies, and small-group exercises. The program combines coaching, peer-to-peer mentoring, and shared learning approaches with experiential learning techniques effective for solving quality issues. Each team must select and complete a project, which is designed to foster continued learning between the in-person sessions and provide an opportunity to apply the skills and tools learned in the class. An experienced improvement coach will be assigned to help guide the team along the way. The faculty, coaches, and participants are all renowned practitioners in oncology and quality improvement, and going through the program can help teams adjust for the changing reimbursement environment based on quality.

Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged, and most organizations send teams of two or three people.
