Dr. Linda R. Duska Appointed Incoming Editor in Chief of ASCO Connection

ASCO is pleased to announce that Linda R. Duska, MD, MPH, has been appointed incoming Editor in Chief of ASCO Connection. Her 5-year term will begin on January 1, 2017.

Dr. Duska is the Associate Dean of Clinical Research, a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Director at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Since joining ASCO in 1999, she has served on the Cancer Education and Public Issues Committees, as a faculty member at ASCO Annual Meetings, and as a blogger for ASCOconnection.org. She brings a wealth of professional experience to the role, including expertise in medical and surgical oncology, clinical research, palliative care, public health, and academic publishing.

Dr. Duska will succeed current Editor in Chief Jonathan S. Berek, MD, MMS, FASCO, whose second term concludes at the end of this year. Dr. Berek is the Laurie Kraus Lacob Professor and Director of the Stanford Women’s Cancer Center at the Stanford Cancer Institute, where he specializes in gynecologic oncology, and is Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stanford. During his 10 years as Editor in Chief, Dr. Berek led the publication through significant changes, overseeing the transition from a quarterly to a bimonthly publication cycle in print, the development and launch of the companion professional networking website, and a complete redesign.

ASCO Connection is ASCO’s member publication, published 6 times annually in print. On ASCOconnection.org, readers will find exclusive content and professional networking opportunities, such as collaborative working groups, discussion forums, and blogs by ASCO leaders.
