May 04, 2017

A new package of educational materials, Clinical Research in Oncology, is now available on ASCO University®. Aimed at early-career oncologists, clinical researchers, and international researchers, the bundle features six eLearning courses:

  • Fundamentals of Clinical Trials
  • Biostatistics
  • Manuscript Preparation and Publication
  • Qualitative Research Methods
  • Evaluation of the Scientific Literature
  • Grant Writing

Also included are three webinars:

  • Observational Studies and Data Sources
  • Synthesis of Knowledge with Direct Meta-analysis Capture
  • Patient-Reported Outcomes in Cancer

These webinars were developed by The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center as part of the Comparative Effectiveness Research Training and Instruction (CERTaIN) program, which is supported by a grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research Quality.

In each course, experienced faculty involved in clinical research share their experience and help learners develop necessary skills to succeed as clinical investigators, from designing and developing research protocols to reporting and interpreting results. American Board of International Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points and continuing medical education (CME), nursing, and pharmacy credit are available for some of the courses in the collection.

The Clinical Research in Oncology collection “will offer clinical researchers and teams an opportunity to gain foundational knowledge about key elements involved in developing a successful research program,” said Daniel G. Haller, MD, FASCO, ASCO University editor in chief. “These courses provide practical core information and plenty of examples that participants can
work through.”

ASCO members who purchase the package will receive an additional 20% discount on the list price of $280, and institutions that purchase through institutional access can get a discount based on the number of people enrolled. World Bank pricing rates are available to oncologists and researchers at institutions in low- to middle-income countries.
