Research led by Jennifer W. Mack, MD, MPH, recipient of a 2005 Conquer Cancer Foundation of ASCO Young Investigator Award (YIA) and 2007 Career Development Award (CDA), has just been published in the
Journal of Clinical Oncology and is being highlighted because of its immediate relevance to improving care – particularly care at the end of life (EOL). The study revealed that for patients with advanced cancer, earlier discussion of end-of-life care options may lead to greater use of hospice and less aggressive care in the final days of life.
