ASCO issued a new clinical practice guideline on the appropriate dosing of chemotherapy drugs for obese adult patients with cancer. The guideline recommends that physicians routinely use an obese patient’s actual body weight, rather than an ideal body weight or other estimate, to calculate the appropriate dose of nearly all chemotherapy drugs.
