ASCO has issued an update of its clinical practice guideline on chemotherapy for stage IV non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This "Focused Update," based on the results of recent randomized clinical trials, recommends that in patients with stage IV NSCLC, those with stable disease and/or tumor response after four cycles of first-line chemotherapy may consider immediately changing to an alternative chemotherapy maintenance drug.
