Important Update from ABIM About MOC Blueprint Review Process

Recently the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) invited all ABIM-certified physicians to participate in a review of the blueprints that outline content areas for subspecialty Maintenance of Certification (MOC) exams. This review process will help ensure that the MOC exam blueprints are relevant to a broader, more representative cross-section of the community. ASCO is supportive of these measures and encourages you to take the time to participate in this process.

During this phase of the project, ABIM will use physician feedback to update the content of subspecialty exams beginning with the fall 2016 MOC exam, for the reviews opening within the next few weeks, provided they receive a sufficient response.

The blueprint for the Medical Oncology MOC exam is currently open; visit ABIM’s site for the full review schedule.

You can participate in the blueprint review by following these steps:

  1. Log in to ABIM.org
  2. Click “Rate exam topics with our Blueprint Review Tool”
  3. Create your Blueprint Review login using these instructions
  4. Rate items based on the relative frequency and importance of the individual topic in practice, one blueprint section at a time.

The estimated time needed to rate each blueprint section varies and could range from approximately 15 to 60 minutes. You can choose to review one section of the blueprint, multiple sections, or the entire blueprint. Your decision to participate has no effect on your certification status, and individual responses will be kept confidential.

Thanks in advance for your attention to and participation in the blueprint review process. If you have any questions, please contact ABIMBlueprintReview@abim.org.
