This past March and April, over 100 virtual participants helped to kick off ASCO University’s
Interactive Board Review Series. This brand new offering was designed to help address the need for more support for those preparing for Board Certification and comprehensive Maintenance of Certification exams.
During the sessions, expert faculty reviewed and discussed more than 40 self-assessment questions across six different tumor areas (genitourinary cancers, lung cancer, hematologic malignancies, gastrointestinal cancers, breast cancer, and gynecologic cancers). Utilizing an interactive polling feature, each participant was able to submit their answer selection to each question before the correct choice was revealed and explained. In addition, each participant was able to see how their peers were responding in real-time.
Another benefit to these courses is that unlike most Board Reviews that require in-person attendance and a significant amount of dedicated time, the ASCO University Interactive Board Reviews were designed with flexibility in mind. All participants logged into the sessions remotely and for just 2 hours per session.
“The online format of the ASCO University Interactive Board Reviews allowed me to fit the sessions into my busy schedule,” says Achala Doraiswamy, a 3rd year fellow at Scripps Green Hospital in San Diego, CA. “And since a capture was made available after the event, I can go back any time and review topics as needed. ”
A capture of each session is available on ASCO University for those wishing to review the live presentations. CME credit, as well as Certificates of Participation and/or Completion are also available to all participants in the live session. As an added benefit, all registrants for the Interactive Board Reviews are also eligible for a 20% discount on the
ASCO-SEP Reviews collection.

“The Interactive Board Reviews are a wonderful example of how ASCO University is utilizing technology to enhance oncology education without sacrificing the interactivity of a traditional setting.” Says Joseph Ruggiero, MD, Leader of the IMT Committee Planning Group for the Board Review.
